Bio
Cole Birdsey is a 5th-generation native of Creede, Colorado. The fly fishing bug bit him early in life, and one of his earliest memories is throwing big Salmon Fly patterns to hungry brown trout. Today, Cole has taken over the reins on the family fly shop and outfitter, Ramble House and Creede Guide & Outfitters. Cole also guides on Rio Grande River as well as many of the smaller tributaries in the drainage. Trout fishing has always held a place of special interest for Cole, but his passion has taken him all over the world on search of new fish and waters, with more yet to go towards his bucket list.
Cole’s love for fly fishing, then later hunting, has cemented a deep respect for the natural world, and a fierce urge to protect it. A true conversationalist, he has devoted himself to being a good steward of the land, so that others may enjoy our natural resources as he has. He serves and has served for conservation-based organization, including Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance and National Wild Turkey Federation, among others. He is driven to open up conversations with patrons of the shop, his clients, and strangers alike about the role we have as sportsmen and women to conserve, protect and maintain public land access, as well as all the animals we share the land with.
Whether its chasing native cutthroat in the high country, spreading the fly fishing bug to others through his guiding the Rio Grande, packing a bow in the woods, or chasing turkeys across the United States, Cole lives for the outdoors.
Scott Fly Rods have served as an integral piece of Cole’s entire fly fishing career, his first fly rod was a Scott V2, and he has carried one ever since. He is proud and honored to represent the brand.
