Bio
Shannon, a veteran of the United States Navy, lives is Sylva, North Carolina with his wife and two sons. Growing up in the shadows of the Great Smoky Mountain and the Blue Ridge Mountain ranges, Shannon developed the fly fishing itch early in his life, as several of his family members were well known fly fishermen and fly tyers in Haywood County. Shannon spent many days and evenings roaming the untamed waters of the Cataloochee Valley honing his fly fishing skills, not knowing that one day he would be sharing his passion and influencing others.
After returning home from serving in the Navy, Shannon stepped up his fly fishing game and tying skills by completely surrounding himself with great anglers and fly tyers.
Today, Shannon is a professional fly tyer, guide, an employee at Tuckaseegee Fly Shop in Sylva and Bryson City, North Carolina. Shannon enjoys tying and guiding with old family patterns and also creating his own signature patterns. Shannon enjoys fishing and guiding guests for native Southern Appalachian Brook Trout with the Scott F-Series Fiberglass Rod. You can also find Shannon casting flies in many of the wild trout streams the Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers with a Scott G-Series Rod. Shannon enjoys the dry fly bite but, he is open to trying different setups to fool weary mountain trout.
Shannon is also a Team Norvise Fly Tying member. It is not uncommon to see Shannon demonstrating his tying of Smoky Mountain Fly Patterns and his own signature patterns, as he travels and gives presentations.
Fly Fishing is Shannon's passion regardless if he is in the shop, tying bench, or on the water.
