Bio
Born in the heart of Pennsylvania, Troy Youngfleish traded
limestone spring creeks and archery whitetail hunting for the freestone rivers
and elk of the Southern Rockies in 1992. His guiding career began with Telluride Angler in 1996 as a wade
fisherman of the San Miguel and Dolores, and an oarsman of the Black Canyon of
the Gunnison. His love of SW Colorado
deepened with every passing season and, having come of age in Scott country, so
too his knowledge and love of Scott fly rods.
Few anglers have fished so many different Scott rods over
the last two decades, from the flats of Christmas Island and lost rivers of the
Kamchatka peninsula to unnamed alpine creeks of San Miguel and Dolores Counties. Troy has fished every generation of Scott fly
rods since the early nineties, including the original Fibertouch models, STS
saltwater rods, G-Series and ARC. Troy’s
personal experience with these rods has paralleled Scott’s ascent in the
industry. His mission is to teach this
wonderful sport at every level of the game and to lead his customers to the
horizon. Troy has become a trusted
consult among his loyal clients, many of whom built their fly rod collections
in the likeness of Troy’s. There is a
Scott fly rod for every fish, every angler and every river.
Troy’s favorite Scott rods are the G2 884-4, F2 703-3 and
Meridian 908-4, although the G 843-5 and S4S 907-4 have also earned quarters in
his hall of fame. Troy is co-owner and
head guide for Telluride Angler and Telluride Hunting Guides, located in
Telluride, Colorado.
