I began fly fishing at age six, cutting my teeth on wild brook trout in the white mountains of New Hampshire. Later on in my teens living in Connecticut I discovered the Farmington River and that's where my love for the sport really took hold. I started guiding and fishing in New York at age eighteen on the Delaware River system, spending my days rowing and my evenings honing my dry fly skills on wary browns. Later on I made my way back to Connecticut where I taught the casting school for L.L. Bean and began guiding on the Farmington. I spent six years guiding in the northeast before the nagging feeling that I had to explore more finally took hold.
I moved to the east coast of Florida to try my hand in the salt. Very quickly the obsession for tarpon over took me and they became my only focus. I spent the last 5 years in Florida guiding, fishing and teaching fly casting. I really enjoyed my time in the sunshine.
Now I'm back in the northeast finally realizing that there is something about a wild brown trout sipping a dry off the surface that no other species can replace. These days you can find me behind the counter at Upcountry Sportfishing, or somewhere on the water either with a client or out hunting big sippers…
