Bio
Justin was born and raised in Bozeman, MT to a family with deep Montana roots and a passion for hunting and fishing. Growing up in Montana he had an abundance of trout-filled streams and ponds to explore with an old fly rod and an automatic winding reel given to him by his dad. Justin learned to fly fish at the age of 6, mostly on the small streams around Bozeman and Lincoln, MT. It didn't take him long to learn that if he wanted to catch trout he couldn't just cast into the river with a random fly drifting in any location. Most of his fishing was done in the summer months as a kid, where he'd walk up and down the stream looking for grasshoppers and began throwing them in the water, watching where the fish would emerge to take the hopper. After many failed attempts to successfully hook and keep a live grasshopper on a bare hook, his luck changed one day in a retail store when he and his brother made the discovery of a lifetime: a fake grasshopper fly. Thus his passion for fly fishing was sparked, and is a driving force in his work today.Justin and his wife Sarah moved to Dillon, Montana in 2005, and after rowing for other outfitters in the area for four years, they started Tight Line Adventures in 2009, and opened Expedition Lodge in the spring of 2011. Having called nowhere but Montana home, Justin has a strong appreciation for how truly blessed he is to live and recreate in such a beautiful state. Keeping and preserving Montana's rich heritage is something he is very passionate about, and he brings that enthusiasm to his work as a fly fishing outfitter and guide.
Over the years Justin has had the opportunity to cast and fish numerous types of fly rods, and has found Scott to be the most well rounded and fluid rods on the market today. Whether it's chasing big Brown Trout in Montana, giant Rainbow's in Alaska, feisty Bonefish, Tarpon, and Permit in the salt, or chrome fresh Steelhead on the coast, Scott Fly Rods are up to the task.
