Bio
I wasn’t a cookie cutter kid growing up. Instead of participating in normal stuff like baseball and football like all the other guys, I pestered dad to take me to the lake. Growing up in East Texas in the trophy bucketmouth bass mecca, I managed to pick up that "fishiness” that would later on help me grow as a guide. When I moved to Arkansas for a change of scenery (and college), I realized that a fly rod was also a great tool for putting fish in the boat. I managed to pull off a business economics degree in less than 5 years, but probably logged enough time on the water in those years for a doctorate in fly fishing. With fears of a job in an office, and possibly without a window, I made the decision to go head first into the guiding game.
I have spent some time guiding in Alaska, in addition to where I call home here in Arkansas. Most folks have heard of the White River and the stories of the monster trout that reside here. The White River and Norfork River are a unique system that truly does offer something for every angler. Whether you want to catch big numbers of trout, cast streamers the size of a tube sock for that true trophy brown trout, or witness some of the best dry fly fishing of your life, Arkansas has it. I have a bag of tricks a country mile wide, that I keep adding to quicker than I can use them.
In addition to offering full service guide trips on the White and Norfork Rivers, I also encourage people to come experience the Ozark smallmouth bass fishing. Wild, ferocious smallies are abundant in nearly every trickle of water you come across, with more notable rivers such as the Kings, Buffalo, and Crooked Creek boasting some of the best fishing in the diamond state.
I enjoy guiding beginners and experienced anglers alike. Like I previously mentioned, these rivers offer just about everything for every angler. I don’t beat my chest when it comes to guiding, but would rather let the fishery do bragging. I am privileged to guide on such incredible fisheries that produce 365 days per year.
I work at McLellan’s Fly Shop when I am not on the river, who is the exclusive Scott Rods dealer in the area. Scott rods continue to perform day in and day out for me. These guys design rods for people who fish, not just the parking lot line tossers. The Meridian series is ideal for casting those giant, articulated streamers in high water, the Radian series perfect for tossing hopper dropper rigs along the banks, and the G2’s the top choice for nymphing technical runs where excellent mending is called for.
