Rogers life has been intertwined with the lore and respect for a fishery that only five generations of west coast commercial fishing can imbed. Having had his sea fairing legs from birth, sport fishing was merely a means to keep busy little hands away from the deck hands were the serious fishing was taking place.

At the tender age of twelve Rogers first experience with a fly rod came off the back of a commercial boat where Coho and Sea Bass came easy. Since he has used the limber rod to put quite a few more species under his belt including Striped Marlin all 5 species of pacific salmon Yellow fin Tuna Rooster fish Sea Run Cutthroat by the buckets Rainbow Brown & Kamloops trout and of course the life changing Steelhead.

Eighteen years at the helm of a commercial salmon troller as one of BCs finest captains, left Rogers searching for more. In the late 80s he tempted fate by procuring FLY H2O Fly Fishing Charters where he help pioneer open ocean fly tossing for Pacific Salmon. This endeavour did not always come easy as information on the subject was scarce, to say the least. Through perseverance hours at the tying bench and years on the water, Roger began finding consistent result particularly when it came to Chinook which are still considered fairly uncatchable by most fly anglers. Things have since change dramatically as the information age has taken hold of fly fishing and many of Rogers previous secret fly fishing haunts are now house hold names on the west coats of BC. Luckily he has been able to find a few more.

Currently Roger is the premier head fly fishing guide and casting instructor for Queen Charlotte Lodge arguably BCs finest saltwater lodge. When not working he can be found hunting steelhead spey rod in hand on the mighty Thompson River or chasing Kamloop trout through BCs interior high country. In short Roger is a very respected well rounded angler whose innovation and respect for his quarry has won him the admiration and respect of his fellow angler.
