Russ Maddin is based in Traverse City, MI, and has been guiding on
area waters for nearly 15 years. He
spends over 250 days a year on the water and is an avid ice fisherman when he
needs a break from rowing clients. Russ
is well-known for his inventive techniques and cutting-edge fly designs. He has a number of patterns that have become
"standard issue” in Michigan, across much of the Midwest, and beyond. Over his career, Russ has been featured in
nearly every fly fishing publications for his skills as a- angler, fly designer
and guide.
Russ spends most of his time on the Manistee River, but also explores
other area waters like the Betsie and Boardman Rivers, and Grand Traverse Bay.
